Woodworm

Woodworm is the damage caused by the larvae of various types of beetles. The adult beetles enter the property through doors, windows, vents or eaves looking for a place to lay their eggs. As the larvae grow they feed on the wood often for several years. When fully grown they emerge as adults from “flight holes” seen on the timber. The adults then return to the wood to lay their own eggs and the cycle continues.

Left untreated woodworm can cause serious structural damage. Treatment is by spraying or brushing an insecticide fluid onto the timbers. Eradication is then carried out when the adult eats out of the wood and thereafter digests the fluid.

If you suspect you may have woodworm in your property please contact Alliance for a Survey and thereafter estimate.

Please feel free to browse our Gallery which shows projects undertaken by Alliance where woodworm infested areas have been treated.
